Organized Clutter

I found this long, skinny, wooden, hinged box at our local thrift shop last week.  I paid $3 for it. I think it must have been a pencil box or paint brush box, maybe?  The glossy red paint was in very chippy condition. I found this felt Easter egg banner at Hobby Lobby. The thickness of the felt was much better than the Dollar Tree felt bunny banner, but yet again, the colors were just to bright for my taste.

 I found a package of wooden wood floral appliques at Hobby Lobby   recently. I used them on a new book stack project.

I purchased this package of dyeable Easter eggs at Target for $3. I found these larger paper mache eggs at Hobby Lobby.  (They are 40% off)

  I found this easel chalkboard at Goodwill last year.

This little wooden box was a Goodwill find at Christmas time. The little snowmen were hand painted.   Primitive country is just not my style anymore, but it sure was at one time!

  I found a plain wooden bunny and egg wooden plaque at Dollar General .   Dollar General's cutouts were $2 each and a little thicker than Dollar Tree's . In the photo above small pieces of a 1" x 2" were glued to the back of the plaques with  Titebond Wood Glue .

  Have you ever purchased these two packs of terracotta pots at Dollar Tree? I have upcycled them in the past, and have a new project today.

I found this unfinished wooden Happy Easter cutout sign at Dollar Tree. I gave it a makeover!

I created an easy and inexpensive spring decor project with Dollar Tree finds.   These little bright pink totes were two for $1.

 This little tart pan and wooden goblet were recent thrift shop finds.  This metal pig was a Christmas tree ornament from Hobby Lobby in 2019. I removed the jute from the hooks on back and drilled a small hole in the top back of the pig.   My aunt gave me several packages of wooden bead in several sizes.  I used 1/2" and 1" for the projects I am sharing.

My mom found this little cutting board at a thrift shop. I repurposed it as Farmhouse Easter/Spring decor.

I purchased a set of four paper stencils from Joann Fabrics Online about a month ago.   I think I paid $8.99 plus shipping.

New flooring is still in progress here in half of my house!   And the very cold, and very snowy winter continues as well.  Last week, I picked up this vintage, wooden shoe shine caddy at a local antiques shop for $4.  Thrifting is always slower in the winter, and especially during an extreme winter.  It's been slim pickens'. When I purchased the caddy, I was thinking Easter basket/Easter decor, but I just didn't like the big shoe shaped handle.  I asked my husband, pretty please, to take the shoe shaped handle out to the garage and slim it down, and to even the sides out, using the chop saw.   It was too long for the chop saw, but he managed to cut the sides down and sand them pretty smooth too.

 This wooden box/drawer was at the thrift shop all through the holiday season.    It was filled with faux Christmas greenery. I really never paid that much attention to it, but after Christmas, I gave it a little more scrutiny.  I discovered it was a small square wooden drawer.  The wood divider was already in the center. Hmm.  I thought.  This will make an easy upcycle project!

This "Egg Hunt" stencil from the FolkArt Holiday Value Stencil Pack   is perfectly sized for an Easter Pillow. The stencil is one of a 26 stencil pack from FolkArt, that pretty much covers all of the major holidays.  I purchased the package of die cut paper stencils from  Hobby Lobby.

I purchased this  basket and standing wooden cross at the thrift shop yesterday.

I am dreaming of spring, so I decided to makeover these three thrift shop, black metal, candle holders with spring in mind.

Since my youngest daughter had a coaching seminar to attend in Duluth, Minnesota, over the weekend, I tagged along for some shopping.  What started out as a three hour drive, ended up taking almost seven hours after receiving a foot of new snow and very limited snowplowing.  Snow predictions were from 3-6 inches, and the seminar was going on as planned.  Luckily, road conditions improved at about 2/3 of the way to Duluth, and the roads home the very next day were fair (all plowed but snow covered and icy in spots). While the long road trip cut down on our shopping, I had extra shopping time while my daughter was in class.  Duluth has a fairly new Hobby Lobby, and I spent over 2 1/2 hours scouring all of the aisles.  I had never ever been to any Hobby Lobby before, and I have to say I loved it.  I also hit Michael's, Walmart and Target.  Can you believe I have to travel 100 miles to get to a Target or Walmart, and 165 for Michael's and Hobby Lobby?...

My spring time decor began with the purchase of peat pots from Menard's.   I didn't really decorate my peat pots.  I brushed on a little sealer to darken the pots and add just a bit of shine.  You could use poly or varnish.  Then I punched four sets of holes in the top sides of each pot.
