Organized Clutter

I found this washboard style wall bin at our local thrift store in late 2023.  I couldn't pass it up, I love washboard projects! This blog post contains eleven of my washboard makeovers, as well as six more amazing project ideas from the Thrift Store Decor Team!                                         

During the Christmas holidays, I found a vintage washboard/shelf at Goodwill.  I think it was a very fun find for $14.99.  The washboard's graphics were really clear and bright, and was probably never used much.  The back shelf part was homemade and not exactly perfect.  The wood cuts were off but I don't mind.   Probably about fifteen years ago, (maybe more) I had homespun valances and curtains custom made for my den/guest room.  Red was my favorite color, and this red and gold homespun plaid was well suited for my primitive country decor.  (Now I have transitioned to a farmhouse decor style in this room.) The scalloped roller shades are even older.  I purchased them from the old JC Penney catalog.  I desperately wanted to update the window treatments in this room without spending a lot of money.

Back in 2017, I repurposed this old barn door section into a planter box/farmhouse sign.   The stenciling had gotten fainter in the sun and elements, and instead of re-stenciling farmhouse , I decided to change it up a bit.

I found this rustic round wooden box with lid at a local consignment shop.  I paid $10. It reminds me of a cheese box, but it's a lot taller than most of the cheese boxes I find.  See the makeover of this box below, along with another installment of our Thrift Store Decor Team's monthly party!

I found this little bright yellow wooden bench at our local thrift shop. It is faux distressed, and also has some real distressing as well.

I found this hollow, decorative wooden flask at the Bemidji Goodwill recently.  I will be trying my hand at decor stamps on this flask and a jar in this blog post.

Back in 2016, I made two fun projects with two cutting boards and a wooden box.

I found this rustic, vintage glass and wood washboard at the local thrift shop recently. It was used a lot and pretty hard from the looks of it!

I picked up this small sled at Goodwill recently. I gave it an easy farmhouse makeover!

I didn't paint this pulley! It was orange at the consignment/antique shop. I thought it made a great  Fall Wreath. Check out more junk repurpose ideas as decor.

I have a treat for my junk lovers today! I am sharing my friend Dana's junk gardens and junk outdoor decor.  As you can see, this planter is a multi-junk combo, and very fun. I shared Dana's tastefully arrange junk , back in 2015  HERE.   It was a hit!  This time the junk is decorating her log cabin!

  These four galvanized metal buckets were an awesome find at a recent garage sale for $1 a piece.

Patio vegetable containers need not be boring.   See how I transformed this little thrifted crate, along with a galvanized bucket into a fun cherry tomato container garden.  Also see my garden shed wall decor for 2021.

I purchased this cutesy country snowman wall decor recently at a garage sale for 75 cents!  The inserts are glass. I gave it a garden themed makeover.

I found this 3 pack of Leisure Arts burlap cinch sacks at a Walmart store recently. I used one of the cinch sacks on a new project below.

  Cutting boards are one of my favorite finds at the thrift shops and at garage sales!  Here is a round up of my cutting board projects from over the years!  Click on the links in the paragraph under the photo to view the tutorials.

I purchased two of these framed farm art pieces at Dollar General for $1 a piece. Under close inspection they are made quite cheaply with pressed board frames and cow shape. I knew I could give them a handcrafted look with little effort.

  I purchased the faded pansy pitcher and the globe at the thrift shop. I gave the pitcher a makeover with help from Dollar Store supplies.

Garden decor is arriving at the dollar shops.  This little flag was a $1 purchase at our local Dollar General. I like the idea of garden flags, I just don't like the overly bright colors of this flag with my farmhouse/junk garden decor.
