Goodwill Pie Basket Repurposed as a Side Table

July 13, 2020
My aunt gave me this wooden pedestal.  Not sure what the original use was, but the top had a chip in the wood. Earlier this year, I upcycled this pie basket from Goodwill. It had a shelf inside to stack two pies. I chose to paint the picnic basket with a can of leftover  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen . French Linen was one of my  Annie Sloan  Favorites. I seldom purchase  Annie Sloan paint  anymore.  I actually prefer the price and the painting/waxing experience with other paints, especially  Dixie Belle Paint. I wanted to give this picnic basket a French vibe, so I pulled out one of my  *Old Sign Stencils Grain Sack Stripe stencils,  G1. Click on the link above to order stencils, or to browse the whole stencil catalog.  Be advised that all prices are listed in Canadian funds, and all American funds will be converted at a premium. * Old Sign Stencils has  provided me with complimentary samples.  A...

Thrifted Calendar Holder/Loaf Pan Farmhouse Wall Bin Decor

I was looking through stuff in my shed earlier this week and found this oak wooden piece that I had picked up at a thrift shop. I think it once held a calendar.

A Divided Vintage Fruit Crate Upcycle/Repurpose

January 04, 2020
I pulled this vintage, divided Greyhound fruit crate out of my shed a couple months ago .  I purchased it a couple years ago at a garage sale for $3-4.  Unfortunately, it was already painted red, and the label was spattered with red paint. I dragged it out of the shed with the intention of making it into Christmas decor.  It went through some trial and error, with the ends painted black and the red sides stenciled with the buffalo check stencil.  I just didn't like it.  I then decided to paint it with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.   The red paint started bleeding through my off white paint.  It must have been milk paint or some other very porous paint.

An Easy DIY Wall Planter Created from A Salvaged Cabinet Panel

March 29, 2019
I ran across this grubby kitchen cabinet panel this week in my garage.  I've had it for a while.  I made a vintage grater photo holder with a smaller panel like this. The panel has a crack in just the front side, that doesn't go all the way through to the back. I scrubbed the panel with a rag and hot soapy water.
