Organized Clutter

I have been upcycling old suitcases recently.  This old Samsonite suitcase was found at the local thrift shop for $7.  Read on to see the makeover, AND how I used the suitcases as decorative storage.

This little wooden, country blue wagon was one of my Goodwill finds from an April post  HERE.   The wagon is the kind of thing I loved in the 90's to display my craft sale bunnies, bears, and dolls. I love to decorate old books!   Here I painted a thrifted book with  Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Daisy.

Way back in 2014, I found this old cabinet door frame and turned it into fun covered patio wall art. Recently, I gave the cabinet door a new look!  Read on below.

This is a photo of a vintage wooden Stanley level I found during the Littlefork, Minnesota, citywide garage sales last summer.

I actually saw some of these vintage card files at a local consignment shop a while back, but didn't know what to do with them at first. Then an idea came to me. The metal files are from the county courthouse.

I found this little bright yellow wooden bench at our local thrift shop. It is faux distressed, and also has some real distressing as well.

I purchased this package of dyeable Easter eggs at Target for $3. I found these larger paper mache eggs at Hobby Lobby.  (They are 40% off)

I found this vintage wooden, dovetailed case at our local thrift shop for $2 last week.  The only marking on the case was "Tower" and Sears Roebuck & Co." It was in fairly rough shape, and one of the hook latches was missing.

This midcentury wooden tray was found in late 2021 at Goodwill. I love these little vintage trays. I also like the similar pedestal bowls too.

Back in 2016, I made two fun projects with two cutting boards and a wooden box.

I found this rustic, vintage glass and wood washboard at the local thrift shop recently. It was used a lot and pretty hard from the looks of it!

I found this unfinished wooden tissue holder recently at Hobby Lobby. I got it for 40% off the regular price.

I found this unfinished, rectangular, hinged wooden box at Goodwill recently. I paid $5.99.  It was stamped with Carpenters Union, thecountrycarpenter.org.  See my box upcycle, along with 8 more makeover projects from the Thrift Store Decor Team below!

This is a little set of heavy ceramic or glass black bookends from the Target Bullseye Playground .   Everything is $5 or less in the Bullseye Playground bins. 

  My Christmas decorating projects began in October with these  garage sale bottles  in a metal container from a garage sale. The bottles were painted with Dixie Belle Paint and decorated with Redesign With Prima Christmas decor transfers. Links to all the projects are under the photos.

  I found a pair of risers in the Target Bullseye Playground area recently. Most everything is under $5 in this section at the front of Target. The risers are also sold online (in 4 count), and the online item description states:  Add a touch of function and style to your home with the 4ct Risers from Bullseye's Playground. These risers can elevate plants or candles and highlight table centerpieces, as their neutral color would blend in easily with any decor style of your choice. I gave them an easy Christmas makeover!

I found this Old World Style Santa hollow Christmas book at Goodwill recently. I decided to give it a farmhouse style makeover with chalk paint & decor transfers.

I love rummaging through the T arget Bullseye Playground bins at the front of the Target stores, especially at Christmastime.  Most of the stuff is under $5. I picked up this faux cutting board riser recently. I have made a few of these from real thrift shop cutting boards in the past. The target riser is made from MDF with a thin coat of veneer.  So it's meant for decorative use only. I also picked up this small metal white truck in the Target bins.   Both will get Christmas makeovers!
