A Flag Stool Makeover & Other Patriotic Decor Ideas

June 19, 2022
This plain wooden stool was a Goodwill find from last summer.  As I am joining a patriotic decor blog party with my friends in the Thrift Store Decor Team , I gave the stool a flag makeover.   Keep scrolling to the bottom of this post to see more featured patriotic recipes, projects and decorating ideas!

A Patriotic/Fourth of July Stenciled Wooden Planter Bucket

June 29, 2019
Back in 2014, I found this red bucket at a local consignment/antique store.  It had wooden sides with a molded plastic interior.  The bucket had been spray painted red.   It may have been some kind of an ice cream bucket.  I don't think it's intended use was as a planter.  Maybe for ice cream.

Garage Sale Floating Frame Patriotic Flag Project

June 25, 2019
I shared two of these floating picture frame finds in a recent garage sale finds post  HERE.  This is the back of one of my 25 cent frames.  The frame consists of two wood frames, one to hold the two panes of glass inside the other outer frame. I like to pick up this type of frame up thrifting.  It's sort of like using a window frame for a project rather than a standard frame.

Buffalo Check Your Junk Garden 4th Of July

June 30, 2017
My only 4th of July blog post for 2017 begins with this vintage blue gas can.  I pulled it out of my shed.   It was originally purchased at a rummage sale for $1. With my success stenciling a buffalo check pattern on a vintage minnow pail planter , I decided to try stenciling on this gas can.

Patriotic Junk Garden Vignettes

June 21, 2015
I just picked up the blue gas can last weekend at an estate sale for $1.  The red and blue gas cans reminded me that I had a red, white and blue license plate that I had purchased last year.  Red iron stars were added with magnets along with a Kmart Fourth of July flag.

Best of Holiday Junk 2014

December 28, 2014
Continuing my year end look back at Organized Clutter 2014, here are some of my favorite holiday junk ideas!  A rustic, country thrift shop framed sign and random junk create a Valentine's Day "LOVE" sign  here.

A Rustic & Patriotic Potting Bench

June 22, 2014
Earlier in June I picked up this second hand ice cream freezer bucket.  The bottom and liner are plastic and the sides are wood.  I don't think it's terribly old.  It was all ready spray painted this bright red.  I also picked up a red, white and blue Minnesota license plate from 1990.

Barn Wood & Barbed Wire Flag Tutorial

June 20, 2014
It's hard to be a junker/repurposer when you have very limited storage space.  See the pile of barn wood to the left of the white ironing board.  That is a some scrap wood given to me by a good friend that makes signs.   Since the 4th of July is only two weeks away, I decided to make a rustic flag with some of it.

Patriotic Kitchen Vignette

July 01, 2013
Do you ever wonder how a vignette comes together?   For me, I always have a couple of key pieces in mind, like flags for the 4th and some red objects.  (The handier the items the better) My beloved red handled masher purchased very recently and the nut grinder were already in the kitchen.

A Red White and Blue Potting Bench

June 20, 2013
I don't decorate very extensively for the 4th of July, but I did add some patriotic decor to my potting bench on the front patio.
