In 2017, I purchased new furniture for my living room, including a  Flexsteel Sofa and Chair and a Half.   At the time I had a white shag area rugs and the floral pillows that came with the sofa. Read on to see how my living room looks today.

My Inexpensive Craft Room/Den/Guest Room Makeover

January 15, 2017
Sadly, my den had become a junk room, littered with craft supplies, thrift shop finds, blog props and STUFF.  It needed an intervention.  Because the room is quite large, I am transforming it into a craft room, den and guest room.

Dated Vintage Vinyl Brick Tile Makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

August 14, 2016
Usually this old terracotta vinyl tile floor in my foyer is covered with lots of scatter rugs because I don't like the floor anymore.  One year ago in August, while my husband was away for four days for a fly in fishing trip, I decided to paint it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.  While white may not be the best color for an entry, I will have a mat and a couple of scatter rugs to keep it as clean as possible.   I thought the creamy white would lighten up the whole area. So I started painting, and ran out of paint about 2/3's of the way through the project.  I called several friends that use chalk paint to rehab furniture and nobody had any to spare.  There are no stockists for 100 miles.   So I covered my half painted floor with some area rugs, and quickly ordered more paint and floor laquer online to finish the job. And then LIFE happened, you know, unforeseen events, problems, time constraints, etc. and soon we had snow an...

My Vintage Living Room

April 06, 2014
I have not posted much lately.  With working 32 hours per week, and trying to get some spring cleaning done, I have not tackled many projects.  I have a few decor changes in my living room. Let's start on the left corner with my antique china cabinet.  A vintage gold mirror hangs above it, the Infant of Prague, a globe and my Bible and prayer book collection are on top.  Vintage Cupid Awake, and Cupid Asleep, The Light of the World print, and other vintage art hang to the sides of the china cabinet.  A prayer plant in a McCoy Jardiniere sit on the floor to the left.

Kitchen Updates and a Reveal

March 08, 2014
I am a fan of rustic farmhouse style , especially in the kitchen.  BUT, does it have to be white on white? I look outside at WHITE for almost six months a year.  I need a little color INSIDE.

Vintage Christmas House Tour 2013

December 22, 2013
Keeping it a little real on this Christmas tour, you will see my home as seen by my Christmas guests.  The dogs' blanket on the chair, and our televisions and television remotes, and a bit of every day life will be visible. This is my junky, rustic front door vignette.

Vintage Bathroom Vignettes and Reveal

August 08, 2013
Welcome back if you have been here before.  If not, my bathroom has most of its 1950's charm and original bathroom fixtures.  One of my favorite things about the bathroom is a 12 foot long vanity built in on both sides of the old sink.

Home Tour 2013

I have seen a lot of blogger home tours recently.  I really have never put together a whole home tour, just reveal posts room by room.   I hope you will enjoy my unique  "Organized Clutter" style home, lovingly and whimsically decorated with family heirlooms, collected antiques and vintage items. Re-painted Pew and Living Room Reveal

April 22, 2013
The red Christmas pew is now Dover White.  It's a Valspar paint mix of a Sherwin Williams color.   I am so sick of looking at dirty snow, (melting waaaayyyy too slowly this year) that I am leaving it pristine white for now.  No distressing or antiquing.

Master Bedroom Reveal

I have shared a couple of posts from our bedroom recently, so you know that we have a hunting and fishing theme in the master.   Come on in and see the whole room... This photo is taken from the doorway into the bedroom.  You can see the painted chest and our double closets.

Duck Decoys and More of the Master Bedroom

March 28, 2013
If you remember last week's  sneak peek at our master bedroom, you will recall a 1970's early American bedroom chest that I had painted creamy white over 15 years ago and vintage duck collectibles.

A "Just Ducky" Master Bedroom

March 19, 2013
While thrifting recently I came across four cork backed, laminated, vintage, waterfowl placemats made in England, by Pimpernel.

A Very Vintage Laundry Room Reveal

October 23, 2012
Probably the most vintage room in my home is my laundry room. Aside from the modern conveniences of an automatic washer and dryer, the decor is all vintage , and in full color. This is a view from the kitchen doorway. The walls are yellow and the cabinets are turquoise with black hardware. This wall display is a mix of old trays, (including a Coca Cola tray on top), old bowls, washboards, a Ball jar sign, embroidered pictures, and a vintage drinking water bag. In the corner are vintage metal picnic baskets, a stool, my childhood ironing board and some irons. There is also a clothes bar here for hangers. I found the little vintage travel iron at a thrift shop, in it's original box, earlier this year. On the right on two metal toy irons. This Eagle Brand Drinking Water Bag is in excellent shape but quite old. The washboards are a little cliche for a laundry room but I like them. Embroidered laundry room art. Laundry room sign. Not old,...
