My Inexpensive Craft Room/Den/Guest Room Makeover

January 15, 2017
Sadly, my den had become a junk room, littered with craft supplies, thrift shop finds, blog props and STUFF.  It needed an intervention.  Because the room is quite large, I am transforming it into a craft room, den and guest room.

Organizing My Clutter & A New Toy!

August 30, 2016
After 4 1/2 years of blogging, Organized Clutter has to downsize and organize clutter ...  I apologize for being missing in action while I purge, organize and redecorate my den into an Organized Clutter friendly space.  Stuff needs to go!

Decorating A Vintage 1950's Bathroom

February 04, 2015
When I say I have a vintage bathroom, I mean the toilet, tub, sink, tile, and floor are all vintage, in addition to the bathroom decor. My bathroom would be the "before" on HGTV's Property Brothers.   Or Nicole Curtis, HGTV's   Rehab Addict, would be searching salvage shops or ebay for missing coral tiles (like the ones above) to restore my bathroom.   Yes, my bathroom has vintage, plastic tiles in coral.  None are missing and none are broken. I have a wall mount faucet on a vintage sink with an older custom built vanity.

Vintage Laundry Room Mini Makeover

February 01, 2015
I changed my laundry room wall color in November from yellow to Sherwin Williams Dover White.  It was a great opportunity to change up the decor.  It's still vintage but less kitschy and more farmhouse. Here are the before and afters : Looking in from the hallway before . Here is the after .  I painted the red bowl shelf with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Old White".  I joined the washboards into a piece of wall art .  I also painted an old ironing board top with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Cream" and hung it on the door to my kitchen.

Living Room Reveal

June 12, 2012
I am still a very amateurish photographer, as you will see. My excuse, I still work 32 hours per week, and I have a hard time spending a lot of time waiting for the room lighting to be perfect. I also could spend a little more time on photography tutorials and photo retouching software. My living room was sawdust yellow for the last ten years. In April, it became Dover White. I showed you the mantel after painting in a previous post, and promised a full reveal. Disclaimer: I like pattern, I like color, I like flowers, and you are about to see a lot of these in my living room! I put the patterned carpet in 10 years ago. Unfortunately it shows no wear, because I am tiring (tired) of it. The living room door with my recently completed old frame chalkboard. My Grandma's treadle sewing machine. I covered it in a previous post. This photo shows my new beadboard wall shelf also covered in a recent post. This washstand was a $40 garage sale gem. I recently put one coat o...

Going Back to White

April 17, 2012
Some changes are coming to my house. My living room has been yellow for the last 10 years. It was painted just before my older daughter, middle child, graduated from high school in 2002. This June, my last child, also a daughter, will graduate from high school. Although our grad party will be at the country club (she's a golfer), I know relatives in town for graduation will migrate here, and I have told Mr. Organized Clutter it's time. I am going from the color "Sawdust" to "Dover White". When you last saw my mantel, it was January 6th, and the decorations had just come down. Teacups across the mantel top and floral art hung above them. Reader's Digest condensed books made into shelves. I can't knock it, because I like it. I love flowers and teacups. This is what I'm thinking: Everything is coming down. Even the book shelves. These were fun. I glued an "L" bracket into the bottom of the book and screwed it to the wal...
