Organized Clutter

I've run across a lot of these two or three tiered metal trays on Pinterest, Facebook, other blogs, stores, and even Goodwill. They were/are pretty popular in farmhouse style decorating. Many people on Pinterest have amassed "smalls" for each holiday, and change out the tiered tray every few months. Today is the July Thrift Store Decor Team's Party and my tiered tray receives a small makeover.  Scroll on down to see my tiered tray along with my blogging pals projects.

Candleholders are fairly easy to find at garage sales and thrift stores, and they lend themselves nicely to upcycling and repurposing projects!  Here are 16 candleholder projects from over 12 years on my blog.

I found this long, skinny, wooden, hinged box at our local thrift shop last week.  I paid $3 for it. I think it must have been a pencil box or paint brush box, maybe?  The glossy red paint was in very chippy condition. I found this washboard style wall bin at our local thrift store in late 2023.  I couldn't pass it up, I love washboard projects!   The project I was most proud of in 2023 was my junk flower gardens! It's a summer long project. That is a labor of love. I found this washboard recently at the Minnetonka Goodwill .  I have never seen an "Authentic Musical Washboard" in all of my previous washboard finds. I found this vintage coffee grinder at our local thrift shop last week for $3.00.  It's vintage, but like 1970's vintage, and I don't like the look. I am delighted to share with you two projects that I had had featured in the July 2023 issue of Country Sampler Magazine.   Besides sharing primitive country homes like it always has, the magazine now includes upcycling and repurposing ideas and farmhouse decor too.  Pick up this issue! I picked up this brass wall pocket at a local thrift shop recently for $2.   It once had a shiny brass finish, but now is worn and tarnished.

I found this little wooden, unfinished, hinged stool at Goodwill on a February trip to the Twin Cities. I love hinged boxes and this little stool was perfect for a display makeover as well.

I love old coffee pots. This is an old aluminum one that I picked up thrifting. It was missing the insides. I gave it a makeover and a new purpose below.  Also below is the March Thrift Store Decor Team 's monthly blog party. Keep on scrolling for more thrifted inspiration.

I just love growing herb plants in my junk gardens!  I also love to decorate both the inside and outside of my home with herb themed decor. Here are 12 of my favorite herb themed ideas here, including this Rusty Herb Folding Chair ! Project links are provided with details of all photos.

One of my bathrooms still has it's original tile, tub, toilet and sink!   It's definitely not for everyone.  At times I want to renovate it myself and replace the coral wall tiles. Over the last 30 some years, I have decorated my 1950's bathroom with vintage decor including lady head vases.

This wooden hinged box was a great Goodwill find. I paid $5.99 for it in the Twin Cities.  It's a perfect find for a makeover.

I purchased two wooden advertising yardsticks from a local consignment shop to make a Valentine's Day project.  I paid $5 for both of them.   After seeing my yardstick project below, please continue scrolling on down for this month's installment of the Thrift Store Decor Team's February party. You will not be disappointed!

The last time I shared this bedroom, it was brown, and decorated with vintage hunting and fishing decor. I just refreshed this room with new paint, and decorated it with my upcycle projects and some vintage items.

  Boy, this old cream suitcase takes me back! Back to the beginnings of Organized Clutter, the blog. I painted an old suitcase inside and out with  Rustoleum Heirloom White Paint ,  Heirloom White used to be my "go to" paint in the beginning, and this suitcase was the first container vignette on my blog. The photo above is a Victorian Valentine's Day suitcase vignette with the famous Cupid Awake & Cupid Asleep Prints in oval frames, buttons, threads, pearls, gloves, a bust, and Valentine's Day pillow.

One of the rooms that recently received a refresh is my 3/4 bathroom. The bathroom is really small, with barely enough space for a vanity, narrow toilet and a neo-angle shower.  Luckily my youngest daughter painted the room for me in Dover White. She was able to paint above the shower, behind the toilet, and on the ceiling, all difficult places for me!
