A Winter Farmhouse Kitchen Refresh On A Budget

January 22, 2023
My kitchen needed a fresh coat of paint so badly! The old paint color was a little too almond colored, the ceiling was green, and I had painted a section of chalkboard above a corner shelf. I hope you can read on and see my small, farmhouse kitchen get refreshed on a shoestring budget!

Back in 2016, I made two fun projects with two cutting boards and a wooden box.

Garage Sale Cutting Board Christmas DIY Decor

September 30, 2021
Last Saturday I found this old cutting board at a garage sale for $1. I gave it a good scrubbing with hot soapy Dawn Dish Soap water, and a few sprays of Krud Kutter.   The cutting board turned out to be the perfect size for a project idea that I had with decor transfers.

March 04, 2020
My mom found this little cutting board at a thrift shop. I repurposed it as Farmhouse Easter/Spring decor.

TWICE Upcycled & Repurposed Thrift Shop Cutting Board Risers

September 26, 2019
A little over a year ago, I posted a cutting board project with these two cutting boards. I was trying an instant coffee stain technique I had found on the internet.  I am re-sharing the old project, as well as a new makeover of the cutting boards.   This usually doesn't happen (thank goodness), but they didn't sell for what I had into them.  Basically, the cost of the cutting boards and round ball feet.

Thrifted Cutting Board & Crate DIY Stenciled Decor

May 03, 2019
I found this round cutting board at a Goodwill shop in the Twin Cities on Black Friday. It was marked $3.99, but everything was 50% off that day.

Stenciled Wooden Rolling Pin For A Farmhouse Kitchen

February 08, 2019
I just love vintage kitchen utensils and kitchen wares.  You would think that  I love to cook and bake , but that is not the case. I really just like to collect them, and display them.  Like this plain wooden rolling pin. (The paint brush and paint can were placed there to keep the rolling pin from rolling .)

Thrifted Cutting Board Repurposed As A Kitchen Riser with Paint, Stencils & Hardware

February 01, 2019
I found this great little cutting board at my favorite Thrift Shop, Neverending Consignment. It was $4.  Of course I had no intention of using it "As A Cutting Board", and was pleasantly surprised to find that it had its own little legs (so I won't have to add any)!

3 DIY Projects with Paint, Stencils, Hooks & Leftovers

November 14, 2018
Do you remember this little stool I found at the thrift shop?  I used the legs for a project but not the top.  I added the legs to a fun crate  HERE. Today, I am going to use leftovers from three projects to make ANOTHER project!

From Garage Sale Cutting Boards to DIY Halloween Decor

August 21, 2018
As you probably know, I like cutting boards.  I almost always pick them up at garage sales and thrift shops. These three were recent finds.  My project today will use the top and bottom cutting boards with handles.

DIY Kitchen Decor with Cutting Boards, Coffee Stain, Stencils & Wood Ball Knobs

July 10, 2018
I love cutting boards.   I found this round one at the thrift shop!  I also found this small round one at the thrift shop too.  It was like brand new.  Since the larger cutting board had been used and oiled, I cleaned it with damp rag and Krud Kutter to remove cooking oil. I have seen that it was possible to stain cutting boards with instant coffee on Pinterest, and I thought I would try it. I purchased a jar of instant coffee at the Dollar Tree.  I poured some in a glass bowl and added enough water to to mix it, and not make it too runny.

Farmhouse Style Cutting Board Kitchen Hooks

March 18, 2018
Sometimes I don't like how something I make turns out, and I just stuff it back into my junk stash. Like the gray cutting boards above.  I had painted and stenciled them, and was just never happy with them.  Not my style.  One was too busy.   BUT, the addition of the middle board, gave me an idea.

Thrift Shop Cutting Board & Metal Pitcher Upcycled As Farmhouse Decor

February 04, 2018
I purchased this rectangular cutting board at the thrift shop this past week for $2.99.  Sometimes I will wait for senior discount day but since they changed it from 25% to only 15% off it doesn't add up that much, and you always run the risk that your item will be gone. Thrifting has been pretty slow.  The weather here in northern Minnesota is horrible.  Twenty-five below this morning.  I purchased this metal pitcher for 99 cents at the same thrift shop.   It has it's original price tag on the bottom for $12.99 from the Ashland Home Collection.  I think from Michael's maybe.

Farmhouse Kitchen Decor Project Roundup

January 06, 2018
This was a recent vignette from my buffalo check Christmas kitchen decor post ,  My Christmas decor has been all taken down, and I am returning my kitchen to its usual farmhouse style. Farmhouse style is so fun and very inexpensive.  My farmhouse decor is thrifted and/or easy DIY.

Thrift Shop Repurposed Cutting Board Christmas Decor

December 07, 2017
I found a small cutting board at the thrift shop this week for $1. As you probably know, I love to repurpose and upcycle cutting boards!
