More Junk Garden Deck Landscaping This Season & Years Past

July 12, 2022

I have managed to evade Covid until last week.  It started with a sore throat and progressed to a cold, along with fatigue.  Just starting to perk up.

The deck landscaping photo above is from this season.  One of my variegated sedums is in bloom on the right.  A few dianthus and carnations are also blooming, but the sweet alyssums are not blooming. I think insects or slugs must be eating them.

Another sedum plant is on the left, along with a cranesbill perennial.

The only junk in the photo are two treadle sewing machine parts, and the back of the red window screen.

Here are photos from previous years of the same area:

The dianthus were in full bloom here.  These dianthus are sold as annuals in six packs but many of them come back for a few years before they die out.

This year I really went big into succulents with them planted in buckets, junk and in the ground too.

This photo is 9-10 years old. Ajuga plant on the far left, maiden pinks dianthus next (not in bloom) and hen and chicks and other succulents around horseshoes and in a toy car.

Hen and chicks are so fun to stick in unusual planters.

A framed lobelia hangs from the deck railing, above a variety of succulent and sweet alyssum planted in the ground. A stool holds an enamelware tissue holder repurposed as an herb planter.

More succulents in this summer season, along with an old typewriter. (Paid $10 for it at the thrift shop).

Another season with the typewriter surrounded by sweet alyssum.

Succulents and alyssums are planted in old kitchenware, and in a vintage potato planter.

I hope you are enjoying my garden junk photos!
