Thrifted Washboard Makeover With Towel Holder & Photo Display

May 03, 2022

Photo of a vintage washboard found thrifting.
I found another washboard while thrifting.

Another one with a glass board.

After giving the washboard a good cleaning, holes were drilled in the bottom legs of the washboard.  A 3/8" metal rod from Menard's  was pushed into/hammered into the snug holes.

I then painted the washboard with Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar.

Caviar is an excellent black chalk paint!

I rubbed on a small section of the Delightful Labels transfer from Maisie & Willow.  This is a great transfer from small projects painted with dark paint colors.

I hot glued a round craft magnet onto the glass board.

I distressed the chalk paint with a bit of 220 grit sandpaper and waxed the paint with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.

A bulldog clip with a large seed packet was hung on the craft magnet.  (A vintage photo is another good choice to display on the magnet.)

Washboards are great decor pieces for laundry rooms or mud rooms!
