Vintage Ironing Board Decor With A Buffalo Check Stencil

October 04, 2020
I purchased this old wooden ironing board a year ago at a garage sale for $5.

I gave it a makeover and so it can be use as a decor piece, and not in the laundry room either.

Luckily one weekend when my daughter was visiting, she painted the ironing board for me with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Fluff on the top, and the legs with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.

I then pulled out my large Buffalo Check Stencil from Old Sign Stencils, and stenciled the board top using more Dixie Belle Paint in Caviar.

I still love Buffalo Checks!  This stencil is so addicting!

I measured to find the center of the board and taped the stencil onto the ironing board top on the diagonal with blue painter's tape.

I had to reposition the stencil several times to stencil the entire board top.

I applied Dixie Belle Gator Hide  to the top using a damp Dixie Belle Blue Sponge Applicator.

I used Dixie Belle Easy Peasy Spray Wax on the legs.

With the Gator Hide poly on the top, I think this ironing board could be used as a fun sofa table.

For this fall season, I will be displaying a fall wreath on the ironing board on my covered patio.

My outdoor rug is also buffalo checked.

I will be adding another fun fall project to the covered patio very soon!

Thanks for visiting!

Pin for later!

  1. Love your ironing board. I especially like your whole patio with the chairs and their "flour and sugar" cushions and the fall wreath on the ironing board. Priceless!
