I love my vintage milk cans!

I prefer them unpainted, AND a little rusty.

One of my favorite stencils is Knick of Times' The Milk And Cream Co. stencil.  It is available following the link on Etsy.

I taped the stencil onto my milk can, (after cleaning the stencil area), and pounced on the stencil lettering using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.

I am almost done planting this year's gardens, and will share more of my ideas and plantings soon.

AND, a rusty milk can in tucked into a foundation planting.

I stenciled this surprise free milk can from a church friend with a cow and farm stencil

Add a pumpkin to the top of a milk can, along with a little raffia in the fall.

I found this milk can top at an estate sale several years ago.  It's such a fun planting piece.

A milk can is perfect in a junk garden vignette.

You can never have too many milk cans!

  1. I have an old milk can, but it’s been painted brown. What should I use to get the paint off without a bunch of scratch marks. It’s also rotten/rusty on the bottom, any helpful hints? Thank you.

    1. I’ve never removed paint on any of mine and I like mine a little rusty!
