Rustic Rough Sawn Fence Board Snowflake Wall Hooks

November 07, 2018
Back in July, I decided to add a back to a free open style bookcase I found across the street on the curb.  The boards in the photo are rough sawn 1" x 6" x 6' fence panels from Menard's.

After using Varathane Weathered Wood Accelerator to faux age the boards, they were cut to fit the shelf.

I ended up with several dog eared fence tops about 12 1/4" long.

My project today is made up of fence tops!

I touched up all the board sides and ends with more Varathane Weathered Wood Accelerator.

I laid the boards out in a staggered arrangement, and stenciled snowflakes on the boards using Fusion Mineral Paint Champlain and a paper stencil from FolkArt Holiday Value Stencil Pack.

The boards were joined with two boards across the back, screwed into each fence board.

Sawtooth hangers were added for easy wall hanging.

I didn't seal the wood or stencils.

White iron hooks from Hobby Lobby were added to three of the boards.

I love the snowflakes on the rough wood!

The snowflake wall hooks can be used at Christmas time, and all winter long in Minnesota!

  1. This is just too cute; the staggered layout really adds to its charm!
