Garage Sale Wire Bin/Cabinet Door Up-cycled As A Mail Organizer

July 07, 2018
I purchased this wire wall bin with galvanized back at a June rummage sale.

It could be used as is, but I changed it up a bit!  Read on to see the transformation.

Since we don't have an outlet to purchase used project cabinet doors here, I was thrilled to find a slew of display cabinet doors on clearance at our local Menard's for $5 each.

They were later dropped to $3 each, and I, of course, bought MORE!

I brushed on two coats of Rustoleum Chalked Paint in Aged Gray

The rummage sale wall bin was attached to the cabinet door with two screws.  It fit the width of the door's center raised area perfectly!

I also added three Bulldog 1 1/4" mug hooks to the bottom of the cabinet door for keys.

I faux distressed the edges of my cabinet door with Ceramcoat Walnut Noyer craft paint and FolkArt Layering Wood Block.  I sealed the Chalked Paint with two coats of Deco Art Water Based Creme Clear Wax

I printed a MAIL tag for the label frame using Picmonkey, and added a sawtooth hanger on the back.

I could change the tag to "Cookbooks" and display older cookbooks in the bin, and utensils on the hooks.

The cabinet door gives the bin much more presence!

The faux hinge planters were a recent project HERE.
