My Vintage Living Room

April 06, 2014
I have not posted much lately.  With working 32 hours per week, and trying to get some spring cleaning done, I have not tackled many projects.  I have a few decor changes in my living room.

Let's start on the left corner with my antique china cabinet.  A vintage gold mirror hangs above it, the Infant of Prague, a globe and my Bible and prayer book collection are on top.  Vintage Cupid Awake, and Cupid Asleep, The Light of the World print, and other vintage art hang to the sides of the china cabinet.  A prayer plant in a McCoy Jardiniere sit on the floor to the left.

Last week I decluttered and redecorated the inside of the china cabinet here.

In front of  one picture window is my dining table (with no leaves in it) and four chairs.  My vintage spring container vignette is here.

To the right of the table and chairs is a double pedestal desk.  This is where I blog.  The area is decorated with my vintage dog collectibles, books, more vintage art, and vintage oil lamps.  I love my vintage chandelier.

The drapes are burlap from Ballard Designs.  I just bought the round white shag area rug.  I am hoping to replace the floral carpeting, that I have long tired of, with wood flooring.  I guess we have to replace the roof and get our last child through college first!

I have had a shag area rug in front of the sofa for quite some time.  I like the texture it provides.

The burgundy chair and a half is where we sit with our spoiled dogs!

I have my Hobby Lobby tapestry pillow covers stuffed and on the sofa with my lady pillows.  My old floral sofa has a Surefit stretchy cover on it.  See more about the old sofa transformation here.  I have been very happy with the fit of the cover.  It really stays in place.

I still have the remnants of my President's Day vignette here on the coffee table.

On the far side of the sofa, I have family photos on the wall and on a vintage wash stand, a recliner, blue and white plates on a display shelf and my Grandma's vintage sewing machine.

A few pieces of white ironstone mingle in with the blue and white dishes.

My very traditional styled mantel is decorated with various sizes, shapes and colors of frames, one old picture, and vintage plates.

With the purchase of a bigger TV, I have changed up my plate display.

I admire and have tried to emulate English Country Style but I have been influenced by cottage, shabby chic, French country, and even Victorian styles.

  5. Your mantle looks great! I love those plates with the ladies! I think I'm going to make some centerpieces in crates like yours. Guess what? It's almost spring!
