Sweet Valentines from My Childhood

February 14, 2013

I am lucky enough to have a bag of late 1950's and early 1960's Valentines from my relatives and my kindergarten classmates.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Do you remember these cartoon characters from the 1960's?

So sweet and innocent!  Like children's lives should be.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Thanks for reading my blog, Carlene

  1. Wish I could find new Valentines cards like this! The ones I find in the stores are sure not as cute!

  4. Love that duck with the globe! With all the weird stuff that my Mom kept for me, it's sort of weird that I don't have any of my Valentines from when I was a kid. I have to buy other people's Valentines.

  6. I think they made much cuter valentines in the "olden" days! Wish I had some from my own childhood. I always remember having my fancy doll being used as the topper for the class Valentine box back in 2nd grade. I don't think kids even exchange them in class parties anymore. No fun.....

  7. Those valentines are absolutely treasures. I remember pouring over the package trying to decide which one to give each classmate. We made "mailboxes" from paper bags. Thanks for the memory.

  11. I love, love, love the Valentine's! And I too am a fan of signs...clever idea for a blog - I may have to try it one day! My adult daughter begs me to not get her any more "saying" signs! Ok, fine...I do suppose not everyone loves them as much as we do!

Have a great day - I love reading your blog and share the "no marble countertops, love vintage, not a perfect house" type of living!
