Vintage Decorating In A 1950's Bathroom With Lady Headvases

February 14, 2023

One of my bathrooms still has it's original tile, tub, toilet and sink!

It's definitely not for everyone.  At times I want to renovate it myself and replace the coral wall tiles. Over the last 30 some years, I have decorated my 1950's bathroom with vintage decor including lady head vases.

The two corner shelves both have lady head vases and small black tole trays from Ebay.

Two more small tole trays are accented with golf frames.

Larger tole trays hang above the coral tile in the tub area.

Another collection, vintage powder tins line one side of the custom 1950's vanity.

I upcycled this old wooden hand mirror in a blog post HERE.

I upcycled this tissue box cover in a blog post from 2015 HERE.

The plate shelf was upcycled in an old blog post from 2014 HERE.

The plates are vintage.

Childhood photos of my girls are displayed on the vanity in vintage gold swing frames.

The toilet is behind a small partition on the end of the tub.

More vintage mirrors on the vanity.

A vintage ice cream chair fits under the vanity. The chair received a makeover with paint and decor transfers HERE.

The upper walls are painted with my favorite white, Dover White from Sherwin Williams, and the vintage custom vanity has been painted Annie Sloane's French Linen.

A vintage shelf back sink sits in the middle of the vanity.  The vanity has a lot of storage.

The large vanity has a equally large vintage beveled mirror above it.

Since this bathroom doesn't have a shower, (my second bathroom has a shower only) I am seriously considering at least replacing the tub area with a combination tub/shower and the floor and wall tile.

Pin for later!

I'm really glad that many of you are enjoying my room photos! Thanks for visiting.

  1. Quite a relic, Carlene! Seems a shame to dismantle it. But those orange/vermillion tiles are really in your face, aren't they? I would hate confronting those early in the morning! Unless you are a morning person! Will be interested in seeing what you decide to do--or not do--with it. Thanks for showing us this unique blast from the past.

    1. I guess I'm used to the color. It's not a color I would ever have picked for sure!
