Hobby Lobby Felt Easter Egg Banner Makeover

March 29, 2022

The thickness of the felt was much better than the Dollar Tree felt bunny banner, but yet again, the colors were just to bright for my taste.

The banner had two blue, two green, two yellow and three pink eggs.

The blue is very vibrant, so I brushed a coat of Dixie Belle Vintage Duck Egg Chalk Paint on the blue ones, but immediately knew I wasn't going to like the color with my other paint choices.

I painted the pink eggs with Dixie Belle Soft Pink Chalk Paint.

Dixie Belle Paint Company provided me with complimentary product samples. All opinions about this fabulous stencil or paint are my own.

The two green and the two blue eggs were all painted with Dixie Belle's Farmhouse Green.

The two yellow eggs were painted in Dixie Belle's Burlap.

I brushed two coats of paint on all of the eggs. Since the pink eggs were already pink, I didn't paint inside the cutouts.   However, with the yellow eggs painted in burlap, I used a tiny artist's brush and also a toothpick to cover the yellow felt areas inside the cutouts.

After waxing the eggs with Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear, I strung the eggs onto a heavier jute twine.

I love how the banner coordinates with my Easter egg project with rub on transfers HERE.

I used the same idea on this bunny garland from Dollar Tree HERE.

  1. So cute, Carlene. I love the new color scheme. Much better than those garish original colors!

    1. Thanks so much Naomi! I agree. They should offer them in pastel or light colors.
