Thrifted Wooden Cheese/Gift Box Upcycled With Paint & A Christmas Decor Transfer

I picked up this round wooden box at Goodwill.  I usually call this type of boxes, cheese boxes, but this one had a Desert Mountain logo burned into the lid.  After googling Desert Mountain, I think it is a golf course.   The box is probably a gift assortment box from the golf course.

I sanded the lid with a power sander to remove the logo, and then gave the box a Christmas makeover.

I brushed a couple coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.

I used a sponge brush to apply the paint, and I didn't paint the inside of the box.

Luckily, one of my new Christmas decor transfers fit the box lid.

I chose the deer decor transfer from this four design package, Holly Jolly Christmas from Redesign With Prima.

It was a really good fit.

I removed the paper backing and began to rub the decor transfer design down on the box lid.

I always pull up the clear sheet carefully and slowly.  If some of the transfer is not stuck down, I can lay the clear plastic back down and rub some more.

I waxed the entire box with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.

The wax deepens the Caviar paint into a very rich black.

This transfer has such a vintage Christmas feel.

I love creating, one of a kind, Christmas and holiday decor with thrifted finds.

I still have 2 more of the larger Christmas decor transfers left for other projects, as well as more of the small transfer designs.  I will get many projects out of each transfer package.

Pin for later!
