Thrift Shop Picture Frame Gets A Farmhouse Makeover

March 02, 2020
Frames are usually abundant at thrift shops, however, many are cheap, run of the mill frames that are a dime a dozen.

This little orange-y frame caught my eye recently.  I picked it up and paid $1.50.  But it needed a makeover to match my decor.

After taking the frame apart, I wiped down the wood part to remove any dust or dirt.

Next, I brushed two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Fluff.

I started by tying the jute twine on one end with a single tie, not a full knot.

I then wove three rows of jute twine through the top and bottom openings.

When I was done weaving, I had four twine ends.

All had been fastened with just one tie.  Not a full, bulky knot.  I snipped the ends shorter and hot glued the short piece to the jute weave.

Here is the finished back.

I added a Tim Holtz Embellishments /Word Bands (Live in the Moment) to the top of my frame using E6000 Craft Adhesive.

I tried hot glue but it did not hold the metal word tag.

I sprayed the frame with Dixie Belle Easy Peasy Spray Wax.

The frame now matches well in my decor.
