Thrifted Finds Upcycled As Coffee Themed Decor

February 08, 2020

I really like these box type signs.  I found this one at a Goodwill in the Twin Cities.

 This is the back side.

I also found this vintage coffee mill plaque at Goodwill.

Both finds received a makeover!

First I painted the outside of the box sign with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Barn Red.
I found this rectangular metal basket at Hobby Lobby recently at 50% off.  ($2.49)

Two small holes were drilled in the sign at each side and the rectangular basket was wired onto the sign.

*Old Sign Stencils has several really fun coffee themed stencils, including this Fresh Coffee stencil.

It fit my box sign width perfectly, and I swirled on the stencil using Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth Cloth.

All prices on the Old Sign Stencils's website are listed in Canadian currency.  A handy currency conversion link is provided for your convenience.

*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.

I took the coffee mill plaque apart, gave it a good cleaning, and painted the wood plaque with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Hurricane Gray.

Shortly after the gray paint dried, I "wet distressed" the plaque.  Then, both pieces were waxed with Dixie Belle Big Mama's Butta.

The wire basket on the sign is a perfect display area for coffee items.  I added a vintage Barrington Hall coffee scoop and a bag of Caribou coffee.  Also a faux plant.

Add an enamelware coffeepot and cups to the mix to create a coffee themed vignette.
