Buffalo Check Hearts In A Cool Thrift Shop Jar

January 21, 2020

My aunt gave me several bags full of small wood parts, like these little hearts.

I brushed a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth onto the little hearts.  Also in the photo above, I painted the lid and ring from a canning jar with Fusion Mineral Paint in Fort York Red.

I laid my so very loved *Old Sign Stencils Buffalo Check Medium Stencil on the diagonal on the hearts.

I swirled on the stencil using Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in CAVIAR.

I moved the stencil around a bit so some hearts had the white spot on the top and some on the bottom.

I painted one of the hearts with Fusion Mineral Paint in Fort York Red like the lid.

This jar was $2 at the thrift shop!  It had such a fun shape.

I'm putting together a Valentine's Day container vignette.  Will share more ideas and the vignette soon!

  1. Carlene,
I sure wish I had your intuition and foresight. Such a cute Valentine feature at a small cost, but one you can display for years. Just love this!
