Displaying Stenciled Linens on a Garage Sale Bunk Bed Ladder

January 04, 2019
After getting my Christmas decorations taken down, I decided to stencil a quick project with a couple Hudson Rustic Hand Towels that I purchased at Joann Fabrics at 50% on Black Friday.  The original price was $9.99 each.

I purchased them in a store in the Twin Cities, and I don't think they are available online.

I really like the natural color fabric with a neutral and red stripe, and the fringes too.

I pressed the fold lines with the iron before stenciling.

I found these $2.99 stencils at Hobby Lobby.  The "Gather" stencil is available HERE, and the "Blessed" stencil is available HERE.

This cardboard tee shirt form prevents paint from seeping through the fabric onto furniture.

It works really well on tee-shirts or pillow covers too.

Here I placed the tee shirt form between the folded layers of my towel.

I always measure with a ruler before I stencil.

Make sure your stencil is centered!

Fusion Mineral Paint  is my first choice for stenciling on fabric.

I used Fusion Mineral Paint on tee shirt stencils last summer (that I laundered many times).  The stenciling has not come off.

Do not iron directly on the stencil!  You can use a pressing cloth or iron from the backside.

I taped my stencil in place with blue painter's paint.

I put a plastic spoonful of my black paint on a paper plate, dipped my brush in the paint, and pounced and swirled on the paper plate until the brush is pretty dry.

I hung the two tea/hand towel on an old (garage sale) bunk bed ladder, that I painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.

The bunk bed ladder is smaller than a blanket ladder.

It works well displaying linens.

The bunk bed ladder is just to the left of my living room fireplace.

I love neutrals in my living room with small pops of color in my accessories.  It's calm and restful, and makes holiday decorating much easier with a neutral background.

Don't be afraid to try stenciling on fabric!  It's really pretty easy.
