Vintage Garden Junk and Wax Begonias
May 23, 2018
Remember my rusty cover project from April?
I stenciled the cover and hung it on a yard sale saw horse with metal legs
I staged the project in that blog post with potted plants.  Now I am actually working the sawhorse sign/planter in my gardens.
Since my house faces north, I am no stranger to shade plants.  This northwest corner of my yard gets super early morning sun and very late afternoon sun.
I chose Bada Bing Red Wax Begonias for the planter on top of the saw horse and a flat galvanized round tray.  (Add drainage holes.)
I also added the wax begonias to my oak barrel.
The old rusty bucket in the oak barrel is planted with three Red Dragon Wing Begonias.
I found this old brown crate with red inside lid at a rummage sale last Saturday.
I drilled holes in the bottom, and added dirt and more wax begonias.  I hung an old Minnesota license plate on the inside cover.
I found the little gas can at a local antiques store.
I paid $8.
I can't wait until the flowers fill in!
Adding a bucket to the oak barrel adds vertical interest with more height.
More garden ideas to come!
