Thrift Shop Wooden Salad Plates Repurposed As Christmas/Winter Decor

I have actually been hanging on to these wooden salad plates from the thrift shop since early 2017.  I have 4 of them, and they are marked "Made in Japan".

Today I gave them a Christmas/Winter makeover!

First I painted them with two coats of Dutch Boy Chalky Finish Paint mixed as True Black.

I then pulled out my favorite Christmas stencil this season, (the buffalo check) stencil from *Old Sign Stencils.

This stencil is sooooo versatile.

The buffalo checks were stenciled with Deco Art Americana Chalky Finish Paint in Rouge.

I added an image to the center of each of the salad plates with the largest snowflake image from Winter Graphics snowflake stencil from *Old Sign Stencils.

The deer stencil is from Stencil 1 (available at Target.)

And the Minnesota stencil from Artminds (available at Michael's).

I stenciled the center images with Ceramcoat Acrylic Paint in Buttercream.

I then lightly distressed the stenciling with 220 and  the edges with 150 grit sandpaper.

The plates were sealed with two coats of Varathane Crystal Clear Water-Based Polyurethane in Satin Finish
