What I Found Thrifting & Garage Sale-ing!

April 30, 2016

I am so happy that once again the garage sale season has kicked off and thrift shop inventory has picked up as well.  The following items will be probably be appearing on my blog in the coming weeks or months with a makeover or in my decor.

A vintage highly carved glove box.  There was a pair of purple ladies dress gloves inside but I think the box is older than the gloves.  I won't be painting this.  Maybe just a little clean up and hemp oil for to bring out the wood grain.

A little chest from the thrift shop for just $5.99 (needs a few repairs and tlc).

A thrift shop silverware and napkin caddy.  I have some repurpose and upcycle ideas for this!

Hankies all 50% off at the thrift shop or 25 cents each.

A vintage glass hobnail lamp from the thrift shop.

A pillar candle holder that has great repurposing possibilities from a church rummage sale.

An ornately shaped vintage coffee pot from the garage sale.  I was looking for a plug in but didn't see one.  Not sure how you perked the coffee.

A non vintage recipe box that needs a makeover and a vintage metal one, both from a rummage sale.

A believe standing sign to change up from a garage sale.

A vintage Hormel cheese box and a yeast foam box.  Both from the thrift shop.  What is YEAST FOAM?

Brighton wall mount coffee grinder. I don't know much about this item.  I think it is the real thing and not a reproduction.  I got it for about $2.75 at a garage sale.

A wooden hinged lap desk from a garage sale.

Vintage  creamy yellow Ovenserve bowl from a garage sale. I love vintage bowls!

This photo is a little washed out but a wooden bread box from a garage sale.

I can't wait to give these items a facelift.

I got most of the thrift shop items 50-75% off and the garage sale items were all good buys as well!

Thanks for reading my blog, Carlene

  6. I'm anxious to see what you do with the hankies. I just got some at a church sale, also great buys for .25. I purchased a hankie box at an antique store, a little more pricey but nice to display with the hankies inside. I would also suggest not changing it.

  8. Great finds Carlene. I know you will have fun making everything useful again. Love the gorgeous vintage pyrography/wood burn art glove box. One of the nicest that I have seen. Feeling inspired to repair the one I have.
