Framed Postage Stamp & Button Christmas Trees

September 28, 2014
Yes, I am crafting for Christmas in September!

This framed button Christmas tree was one of my most popular Christmas crafts of 2012.

My latest framed Christmas trees feature both old postage stamps and buttons.
Here I am soaking old cancelled stamps off  envelopes with a bowl of water.  I then dried them on paper towel.  These stamps are fairly old  (probably 50's and 60's) but not valuable.

I decided to use burlap as the tree backgrounds once again.  I brushed Mod Podge on the frame cardboard backing with a sponge brush.

Then attached burlap to both pieces of cardboard.  I trimmed off any excess around the edges with scissors.

Then I simply glued on stamps and buttons in a tree shape with Aleene's Tacky Glue.  This was a cheap wooden frame that I painted and distressed with Heirloom White Rustoleum paint.

This was a wooden craft shop frame that I purchased on clearance and painted and distressed.  The buttons were placed randomly.

Here I have the new framed postage stamp and button Christmas trees on display inside another frame on the wall.

This is an easy and very inexpensive Christmas craft you can make too!

  1. I will have to pin this project also. Your button tree is one of my favorite crafts and I think this year I'm finally going to make one!! I'll have to start looking for old stamps now for the other one! You are so creative!
