Easy Re-purposed Chair Leg Sign Hanger

June 30, 2014
Because we have prefinished steel siding, I have very limited outdoor decor hanging places.  I have one nail by the front door, one over the picket fence shelf under the covered patio and one on the front of the house.  All my seasonal decor, signs, stars, etc. have to work with the existing nail holes.  This keeps my husband happy, and I really don't want a lot of nail holes and dents in the siding either.

I found two of these old ornate chair legs a couple months ago.  With just two instead of four, I really couldn't make a table or stool, but I thought one of the legs would make a great sign hanger.

First I painted the leg white and distressed it with sandpaper.  Then I applied a couple coats of matte poly.

I cut up a chain into four short lengths and screwed cup hooks into two small garden signs and into the chair leg bottom.

Holes were drilled in a railing board on the deck and in the chair leg to screw it on.  My sign hanger was done.
If you wished to hang signs on an inside wall, you could attach the chair leg to a piece of board first, and then hang on the wall.

How I Repurposed A Chair Leg To Hang Signs www.organizedclutterqueen.blogspot.com
This is an easy sign hanger with perfect signs for me, a flower gardening, junk lover!  I didn't make the signs, I purchased them locally at the Tattered Angel several years ago.

  9. Your sign is wonderful but you're bad for me because I'm trying to "clear out" but now I hang on to things because I know you will come up with something wonderful to do with "whatever" and I don't want to be kicking myself for having gotten rid of something that has "potential".....therein lies the rub. Don't stop though! I love it! LOL!
