Vintage Shabby Easter Vignette

March 24, 2013
I purchased this shelf for $5 last summer.

It had some possibilities.  I loved the oval mirror and caning inserts.

I dry brushed several coats of Heirloom White paint on it, and distressed it a bit.

After I painted it, I thought of a place to use it in the house.  I never found a place, and put it in the garage.  It has been sitting in the garage since September.

Today I brought it inside and used it on my bathroom vanity for a vintage shabby Easter vignette.

The bunny tin has been around since my childhood.  It is a Boy Blue Toffee tin.  To the right of the tin is a bottle with faux tulips and a vintage-look cast iron bunny.

Also in the vignette, a Royal Copley pitcher, my button egg in a bowl with a lace glove, and my shabby cross made from a vintage level and door plate.  I made them here.

I guess the shelf doesn't have to HANG anywhere it can work sitting on top of something.

  3. A non-hanging shelf works for me. That little bunny tin is adorable. Hope it's not snowing out your way. You're probably ready for the big thaw to come any day now.

  20. It's a shame to let such great transformations go to waste. Glad you were able to put it to such good use.
