Thrift Shop Chair Upcycle with Fusion Mineral Paint & Old Sign Stencils

May 18, 2017

I found this vintage chair at the thrift shop last week.
First I sprayed it with Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye Clear Shellac Spray .  The shellac will prevent any bleed through of old stain.

I painted the chair with two coats of Fusion Mineral Paint (Cathedral Taupe) sold by Amazon and other retailers.  I painted the oilcloth seat as well.

I was now ready to stencil *"Bed &Breakfast" on the chair seat with my Old Sign Stencils Getaway Collection.  For my letting, I used Fusion Mineral Paint Champlain.  That's it.  You don't have to wax or seal Fusion Mineral Paint unless you would like to add a coat of water based poly to protect the seat.

So, I thought I was done painting and stenciling my chair and took this photo.

But later decided to paint the inset on the chair with Fusion Mineral Paint in Champlain too.

I have been seeing a lot of two toned furniture upcycles but haven't really done it myself.

Now it's done!  Do you remember my Repurposed Banana Stand Project?  The variegated hoya plant is still doing well.

The chair would be a perfect bedroom chair for putting on socks or shoes or to hold an afghan!

*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples.
All opinions about these fabulous products are my own.
