Minnow Bucket Pumpkin With Dollar Tree Stencil

October 11, 2023

Photo of a metal minnow bucket.
I ran across this metal minnow bucket it in my shed.

I had purchased it at a garage sale, and used it in my junk garden several years ago.  It's not super old as it had a UPC stamped on it. I had previously drilled holes in the bottom for drainage.

I cleaned the minnow bucket exterior with hot soapy Dawn Dish detergent and a rag.

I then spray painted it with two coats of Rustoleum Cinnamon Spray Paint.  I like this color for pumpkins, and used it in a September project HERE.

Photo of a Dollar Tree fall stencil/sticker.
I found this fall sticker/stencil package at Dollar Tree recently.

They can be used as sticky letters or as a stencil.

I chose to use the stencil "Oh My Gourd"!

The hardest part of the whole project was getting the sticky stencil centered and flat on the bucket.

The letter G on gourd needed the two circular stickers placed inside the top and bottom of the letter, after the paper stencil backing was removed.  I then pounced on the stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.

While removing the sticky stencil with my fingernail, I scratched the fresh orange paint in a tiny spot.

I sprayed the orange paint into the cover of the can, and used a small brush to apply the paint to the scratch!  It covered perfectly.

It's cute already!

My magnetic branch cut/pumpkin stems with raffia worked perfectly on this project too!

To give the minnow bucket/pumpkin another look, I set an upside down metal container in the bottom of the pail.

The metal container added just the right amount of lift for my mum pot.

The minnow bucket adds some fall colors to my neutral wheel pumpkin patch on the patio.

I love it!
