Thrifted Wooden Pitcher Plaque Makeovers
February 28, 2022
I purchased this pitcher plaque at the thrift shop for a couple
      bucks back in 2016.
It was beautifully hand painted but a little dated.

I added a little shelf to the pitcher with this thrifted, unfinished
    plaque.
I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White, and stenciled it with "Flowers" in French.  I liked the finished project but was never happy with the light
blue paint showing through on the sandpaper distressed edges.
In 2017, I re-painted the whole thing with Rustoleum Chalked Paint in Chiffon Cream. This time I didn't sand the edges to distress, I used my FolkArt Layering Block

Instead of adding a French stencil, I used this ironstone pitcher graphic
from the Graphics Fairy and the Mod Podge Image Transfer method.

The pitcher has been hanging on bedroom wall since it's last makeover in
      2017.

Last week, I removed the shelf before painting the pitcher plaque with Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Dried Sage.  I love Dried Sage.  It's a color, but also very neutral and
easy to work into with my existing decor.

Dixie Belle says on its website "that this stencil is perfect for creating a beautiful 3D or smooth finish
basket weave look to any piece.
Repeating pattern allows you to use this not only on drawer fronts and
sides, but larger pieces as well. If you love to decorate with baskets, you will love bringing this look
onto your furniture and home décor as well."
Dixie Belle Paint Company provided me with complimentary product samples. All opinions about this fabulous stencil or paint are my own.

I centered the basket weave stencil on the pitcher like so, and taped it
      on with blue painter's tape.

I screwed the shelf back onto the pitcher and waxed the piece with Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear.
The little shelf is perfect for displaying faux plants and flowers.
The stencil will work with a boho or modern style as well.
What do you think? Version 1, 2 or 3?
  Pin for later.
  Thanks for visiting!
