October 05, 2021

Photo of a small wooden toolbox.
This little toolbox was one of my April Goodwill finds HERE.

Do you pick up toolboxes and totes at garage sales and thrift stores too?

At first, I thought "Tool Shop Jr." was just painted on, but it was also indented in the wood.

I used my Ryobi Corner Cat Finish Sander to remove the lettering, then gave the toolbox a good cleaning.

Next, I brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Putty.

The layering block is a great way to add faux distressing (in the paint color of your choice). I used a small sponge brush to apply paint to a small portion of the layering block and rubbed it along the edges of my toolbox.  See more info on the layering block HERE.

I ordered MORE Redesign with Prima Small Transfers from Maika's Daughters.  This set of three 6" x 12" transfer sheets is called Foliage Collector.

I liked the longer and skinnier transfer patterns on the toolbox ends.

I rubbed on the transfer using the enclosed rectangular stick.

One done!

I chose this "Thankful" design for the front corner of the toolbox.

I sprayed the toolbox with two coats of  Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Clear Spray in Matte.

The toolbox is super cute with little orange pumpkins.

Dixie Belle's  Putty paint reminds me of burlap.

If you think you need to buy some of the Christmas or fall small transfers packages, they are $12.99.  One package will work on quite a few small projects.
