This item was labeled as a plant stand at a June garage sale I attended.

I paid $8 for it.

This wicker and wooden plant stand/table is vintage, but not antique, as the drawer was not dovetailed.

When I washed the plant stand down with soapy Dawn Dish water, reddish stain came off on my rag. Ugh!

This plant stand is being painted in a dark color paint so it doesn't bleed through with red or pink stains.

The drawer had a musty odor so I brushed on a coat of Dixie Belle BOSS in Clear.

Dixie Belle's Boss works well for blocking odors and also works for stain bleed too.  I could have used Boss on the reddish stain too, but I didn't feel like painting a coat of BOSS and waiting overnight to paint it again with white or light paint.  The wicker was kind of a pain to paint too, so I wanted to keep the number of coats down.

It took two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar to cover the wicker. (More stencils in the pack too)

This FolkArt Dimensional Architectural Stencil Pack has this fun scrolly pattern, along with the two corner designs.

I put the corner of the stencil even with the wood top corner and stenciled two corners with each stencil using  Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.

I used the same two paints on this table organized project HERE.

The Dixie Belle Caviar paint has a very matte black finish and the Fusion Mineral Paint Ash has a bit of a sheen in more of a charcoal.

I sealed the paint and stencils using two coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Clear Matte Spray

The spray was much easier to apply to the wicker than wipe on or brush on sealers and waxes.

The bottom shelf was stenciled with the large stencil but not the corners.

I love the subtle stenciling!

I think the plant stand could also work as a night stand for a clock and a book.

It would also work on my covered patio, but I am using the typing table this season!
