Creative Message Boards And Command Centers

Do you have a home message board or command center?

Since I love to up-cycle and re-purpose, I put my message board together with a cabinet door, a clipboard, and an enamelware tray, and trimmed it out with vintage wooden yardsticks!

Neutral Rustic Decor in the Foyer

Welcome to my foyer!  This wall vignette is the very first thing you see when you enter the front door.

French Country Up-cycle of a Garage Sale Find

Normally I am upcycling and repurposing my thrift shop finds but this time I am giving this little country style, garage sale, potpourri drawer a little French makeover.  The piece was actually red and navy blue when I purchased it.  Here I have already given it a base coat of American Accents Rustoleum paint in Nutmeg.

Up-cycled Thrift Shop Decor

My thrift shop up-cycle for today begins with this jug hanging plaque.  I think it is a reproduction of an apple cider jug.  It has a metal neck and the rest of the jug is covered in a basket type material.  The Harvest picture is a decal.  I paid $1.

Farmhouse Industrial Plate Holder Upcycle

I purchased this wooden plate holder at the thrift shop last week for $2.  Notice the heart cut out in front.  Thrift shops are full of country shelves and wooden decor with heart cutouts.  The problem is that hearts just are not as popular as they once were.

Re-Purposed Recipe Card Holder

My thrift shop repurpose today starts with this wooden recipe holder purchased at the thrift shop for $2.

Re-purposed Banana Stand House Plant Holder

My re-purpose project today begins with a thrift shop, $2, oak banana stand.  These are relatively easy to find at thrift shops.

Toilet Paper/Magazine Rack Combo Holder Up-Cycle

My Junkin' Friend Jodi gave me this for free.  I think it's a combination magazine rack and extra toilet paper holder for the bathroom.

Vintage Wood Puzzle Art

I picked up this vintage Sifo wooden puzzle of the United States yesterday at the thrift shop for $3.  It had one puzzle piece missing.

Washboard Wall Art

Vintage Laundry Room Decor
I am still working on redecorating my laundry room after painting the walls from "Sawdust" yellow to "Dover White".  This is the "before".

Instead of hanging my vintage washboards all individually on the wall, I decided to attach them together to form one piece of wall art.  The "legs" were all cut off to make the bottom edge flush, and mending braces were added to the back to join the washboards together at the sides.  I really had to get past the idea that I was ruining the washboards, and think that I was up-cycling the washboards into a piece of laundry room wall art.  After all I won't be using them, they are there for decoration.
