Christmas Tree 2012

December 07, 2012
I haven't put up a real tree for quite a few years now.

My husband is a real tree guy, and so we have had some beautiful balsams and Frasier firs over the years.  I like the idea of a real tree too, but I like to put the tree up around Thanksgiving and sometimes the trees got too dried out by Christmas.

After years of putting up artificial trees with individual branches, I am so glad to have a two piece pre-lit tree with a fairly narrow bottom.

I purchased Dollar Tree gold frames a few years ago and framed black and white childhood photos of the members of my immediate family.  This is my son,

And my daughter in law.

My oldest daughter,

And my youngest daughter.

Me,

And my husband.

My grandson,

And my granddaughter.

My mom.

My dogs...

My tree is decorated in reddish burgundies, gold and white.

With angels.

And more angels.

There are glass ornaments, poinsettias, and gold beaded picks.

Some clear ornaments I filled with sheet music strips.

A few gold pine cones.

I just purchased the glittery white pug ornament a couple weeks ago at Kirklands.

The treetop is a fiber optic angel.

That's our Christmas tree.

  7. That's a beautiful tree. I love real trees too. It's more convenient for me now that my kids are grown to just have an artificial tree, but then I sacrifice the wonderful smell of a real tree.

  8. Merry Christmas, Carlene!
How I love your Gallery Christmas Tree. Yours is the first I've seen with framed family photos and it's lovely.
I'm so glad you shared, my friend.

  9. Carlene, your tree is so beautiful. I like the photo frame idea. How to you get your angel to stay in place on the top? I don't have anything on my artificial tree top as the branches aren't long or stiff enough to hold anything - even a crocheted angel which is very light. I wish they made a hole in the top section with a stick to set something on. Do you have a trick for yours? Pamela

  10. I love your gallery tree, what a great idea to fill your tree with the ones your love. I don't think I've seen this before, so it is of no surprise that you came up with it. Also wanted to say congrats for being features at Funky Junk - you go girl! Merry Christmas!
