Galvanized Buckets, Annuals, Climbing Vines, And Other Junk Garden Decor On The Deck

I added a few dianthus to the end of the deck here, along with a sedum. The others came up from last year. These dianthus are sold as 6 pack annuals but they are very hardy and survive several seasons even in Zone 3.

I haven't had a Mandevilla Vine for many years, but when I saw one in my sister in law's cart at Menard's I headed back to get one too! I found an expandable Achla Designs Fleur-De-Lis 58-in Wrought Iron Garden Stake Trellis on Amazon that fit my large scrub bucket!

I planted succulent plants in my coco liner deck railing planter.

I moved this horizontal half barrel planter from the front of the deck to the back, and more sun.

In the barrel, I planted two Grandaisy Dark Pink Marguerite Daisies, three Nesia Magenta Nemesias, two Lascar Pink Verbenas, two Callie Pink With Eye Calibrachoas and two Megacopa Pink Bacopas.

In the top of the mop bucket is a Calliope Large Rose Mega Splash Geranium. (The only blossom so far has been cut off.) The bottom of the mop bucket is planted with two Diamond Frost Euphorbias, and the watering can is bursting with two annual White Baby's Breath plants.

This bucket, with a spout, had a three plant combo that included a calibrachoa, a verbena, and a petunia in pink. The calibrachoa did not make it through some of the colder daytime temps in May, or maybe was overwatered. They can be finicky when small.

This bucket has two Wine Red Lofos vines. This annual is new to me, and has not yet bloomed.

This mop bucket is planted with two Callie Dark Red Calibrachoa.

Another plant, new to me, is this Mezoo Trailing Red Dorotheanthus.

Mezoo is a succulent that has small red blooms. This mop bucket only holds one 4" plant in between the mop rollers.

This mop bucket has two plants, a Lanai Red Verbena, and a Yellow Lantana.

This is my first year for compact verbena! This one is Lanai Red Star.

Besides Verbenas and Geraniums, I really love Techno Heat Dark Blue Lobelias. They seem to be able to last the entire summer in bloom.

This area of the deck had been the rustic birdhouse zone, but this year I plopped a window screen against the lower railing and hung a metal star on it with monofilament fishing line.

I also displayed a Dragon Wing Red Begonia bucket on an old stool, two old gas/oil cans, (one stenciled and one painted), and a chamber pot with red seed geraniums.
