Fall Themed Coasters Receive A Bohemian Herringbone Makeover

January 15, 2022

Maybe you remember these coasters from last fall.  I found them at our local Menards.  They are still available online HERE.

I ended up creating a fall garland or banner with the coasters HERE.

I tried to sell the fall banner on Facebook marketplace last fall, with no luck.

I decided to give the coasters a makeover, and painted them using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash, an acrylic paint.

Next, I pulled out this FolkArt Backgrounds Stencil Pack from Walmart. It has 6 different designs. I purchased the stenciled recently at Walmart for $2.97.

I chose the herringbone pattern, and pounced on the stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.

I didn't distress the coasters at all, but they needed to be sealed with an acrylic spray sealer like Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Matte Clear (several coats).  Or Dixie Belle's Gator Hide, or other water resistant sealer.

I then pulled out of my craft stash, four Typed Tokens by Tim Holtz Idea-ology.

I pushed the doubled end of thin jute cord through the coaster hole, and looped it over.

I then taped the other two ends with blue tape (to help get the cord through the hole), and strung three small wooden 1/2" beads onto the jute.

I added the typed tokens and tied a double knot at the end.

Here are the four finished Boho style coasters.

Maybe Boho-Farmhouse style.
