YARD of FLOWERS 2017 Garden Tour

A Junk Garden Tour From the Yard of Flower organizedclutter.net
The Yard of Flowers is my sister in law Kris's yard and gardens.  As you can see, Kris, like me, is a junk gardener.  I love how the rusty fencing, turquoise container, galvanized pitcher and stencil all mix so freely with both zinnias, cosmos and hydrangea.

A junky birdbath and another hydrangea by the fencing.

I love the stone patio in front of the edging of this zinnia bed.

Creative containers for annuals add so much interest to a junk garden!

This flower bed is mostly made up of perennials.

The "fence" is really a salvaged outdoor canopy holder that Kris fashioned into a fence.

The brick ringed long curved flower bed also contains hostas, day lilies, jasmine, Asiatic lilies and sedum.

This flower bed in front of the house features hydrangeas along a picket fence and more annual zinnias.

The hydrangeas are fairly recent additions.  I think this may be their best year yet.

More junky additions to this bed, and a short weathered plank walkway.

Do you remember the purple coneflower project that I shared in June?

More zinnias, geraniums and impatiens here.  Flower Power in the front red metal letters mounted on rebar.

This is Kris's garden with the famous garden pathway down the center.  It has changed some over the years but always contains the great salvaged bricks!

This garden is a riot of colorful annuals and perennials.

Galvanized pails, rusty metal and an occasional gnome are visible between the plants.

The addition of junk and flowers planted in various types of containers, all at various heights, make this bed interesting.

And this clematis from Kris's parent's home is in full bloom with marigolds at the base.

I think this may be my favorite junk garden vignette this year!

  3. Where do you find your galvanized "clutter" for the garden. I go to flea markets & antiquing, but I've never seen that much cool stuff. Love that bird bath. What area do you live in?

    1. We are in northern Minnesota. Rural. It's pretty easy to find here.

  9. Jan, For galvanized and inexpensive tin items take a look at Factory Direct Crafts. In rural areas search for a "feed store" where buckets, tubs and animal supplies are usually sold.
