Cute Little French Stools: Thrift Shop Makover

November 08, 2015
I found these cute little stools at the thrift shop last week.  They were unfinished wood.  First I gave them a coat of dark walnut wood stain.

Next I painted them with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White and wet distressed them.

Then I made a couple of images on Picmonkey, "Le Grand"
And "Le Petit".  French for the big one and the little one.

I applied my images via the Modge Podge image transfer method using regular Mod Podge in matte.

I then put a coat of protective clear wax on my French stools.

Too cute to cover up!

  3. Thank you so much for sharing. I looked up modge podge image transfer procedure and am wondering why you chose to not use their image transfer product. It certainly looks like there is a learning curve to this technique!

    1. Thanks for your comment.
I have used the image transfer product as well and prefer the regular mod podge. Regular matte mod podge dries more clearly where the image transfer mod podge dries very white and looks stark white against my off white paint.
