Most Recent Rummage Sales and Thrift Shop Purchases

April 26, 2015

I live in northern Minnesota so garage sale season is not really in full swing yet.  I stopped after work  on Friday at a church rummage sale.  It had already been in progress for at least an hour so it probably was pretty picked over, but here is what I got for $2.

An old rake.  I have seen these on Pinterest as Christmas trees and wreaths.  I hope I can upcycle and/or repurpose it into a fun new item!

This country wooden flag.  It has slats connected with vertical boards in back so I think I can upcycle it into a new sign or flag.

A chunky wooden candle holder.  These thing are DIY blogger staples.  Great for tiered stands or pedestal bowls.  I know I will use this item for sure.

I also picked up two of these 3 1/2" x 5" three hole frames.  I have already upcycled the bottom frame and will share it very soon.

So that's what I got for $2 at the church rummage sale.

Now for consignment and thrift shops!

I paid $6 for this jar at the thrift shop.  It doesn't look like it from the photo but the lid is dented and aged, and I think it will be a fun display for a collection of small items.

An industrial or commercial looking toilet paper holder made by Fort Howard.  $5 at the consignment shop.

I love finding wood shutters for a song, but they are getting harder to find.  I paid $15 for this one, and plan to use it outside.

I have several galvanized laundry tubs, but I needed one without holes drilled into it for a project in progress so I paid $24 for this one at the consignment shop.

$10 for a barn wood bird house at the consignment shop. It will join my other birdhouses outside!

Two canisters from the thrift shop.  Grease $2 and tea $1.

Sewing machine drawers for $10 at the consignment shop.  I have a plan for these!  Now to see how it comes out.

The highest priced item I purchased was this antique ornate frame.  I paid $26 for it at the antique shop.  I have several antique pieces in my living room, and it will blend in well just like it is without paint.  I plan to hang a another picture or a platter inside the empty frame!

That's it for my most recent purchases. Be sure to stop back and see how I upcycle or repurpose them!

  3. Ohhhh, I look forward to seeing what you do with these items - I'm curious about the frames with the 3 holes - what you will do with those. I've been working on the yard like crazy and revisiting your pages for inspiration. We have to find more yard loot!

  5. I have a collection of different sewing machine drawers. I use them in many different ways, depending on the decoration on the sides or where the front is. I'm sure you will have a good time using them. It's nice when you have their holder too.
