Another Thrift Shop Banana Stand Re-purpose

March 22, 2015

I recently purchased another banana stand at the thrift shop.

Again, I painted the stand with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Old White", wet distressed it, and brushed on clear wax.

I purchased these miniature African violets yesterday at a local floral and gift shop.

The miniature African violets were the perfect size for a Blue Willow cream pitcher and sugar bowl.

Nothing says spring like a bunny and blooming flowers!

When you water the African violet in the cream pitcher you will have to take it off from the hook until the water soaks into the soil to prevent drips.

I am going to try the violets on my dining room table by a west window and see how they do.

Here is the first banana stand re-purpose with a hoya plant in a small pail and Modge Podge image transfer on the base.

Don't walk by those banana stands at the thrift shop again!

  5. That is so cute! What a great idea! Looks like a better way of using banana stands then actually using it for bananas. One more thing to keep an eye out for at thrift shops. Love your violets, I won't even try growing them. I hear their real delicate.

  6. Oh, how clever! I have had African violets (gifts from an aunt who was great with them) and have never been able to keep them alive, but yours are wonderful.

I was just thinking, too, how one of these banana stands might work to display a special Christmas ornament.

  9. What is the real reason for using a banana holder such as this? Was it to prevent bruising? It certainly isn't a space-saver. It's funny the things that some people invent, and even funnier about who purchases them! I'm glad you've found a new use for an odd invention.
