From Kitsch to Rustic in the Laundry Room

Kitschy Laundry Room Decor www.organizedclutterqueen.blogspot.com
When I last shared the laundry room on my blog, it had yellow walls, and in addition to vintage washboards and irons, the standard laundry room fare, I displayed vintage, kitschy collectibles like cookie jars, salt & pepper shakers, etc.  That post is here.
My laundry room is located right next to my kitchen, and seen daily by family and visitors.

In November, (while my husband was deer hunting), I hired a painter to paint three rooms of the house.  I am going back to white walls, and the laundry room has now been painted in Sherwin Williams Dover White like my living room.

This is that same cabinet top in the laundry room now with freshly painted white walls and more rustic vintage items.  The chippy tin is a new find.

I spotted this fabulous cookie/picnic tin on No Place Like Home Again's Facebook page (in all of its chippy goodness), bought it, and brought it home.

Since I would be displaying the tin with old thermoses, I chose to turn the "picnic" side to the front.  I am keeping the turquoise cabinets, for now at least.

Now, about the spice rack in the distance...

This is the spice rack in its original finish.

Then the spice rack became my very first  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint project.

Now for one more little change, the addition of one-half inch chicken wire on the back of the spice rack.  The chicken wire idea is one from Pinterest.

My Pinterest inspiration has a fun paint job too.

My style is evolving a bit, but is always "vintage".  A few more changes are coming to the laundry room, and then I will do a whole room reveal.

  1. I have to comment on the "prayer ladies" you have, or I can tell at least one of them is a prayer lady. My brother collected them in honor of my mom as one of them has the blessing she taught us to say. We still all say it when our family is together. Thanks for the memories.
