Re-Purposed Vintage Tray Christmas Art on Barn Wood

September 20, 2014
I purchased this old tray last fall.  An idea came to me to cut a tree shape out of the center of it with tin snips.

I found this Christmas tree shape HERE.  (I really should be finishing and posting my fall projects but I couldn't wait to make this Christmas one after I got the bright idea!)

Then I traced the tree pattern onto the tray with a washable marker.

Three old barn wood boards were attached together to make a plaque with two horizontal boards.  The size of the plaque is the same as the tray size.

I nailed the cutout onto the plaque, and a rustic star was cut out of a scrap of aluminum.

The tree plaque has a rustic appearance with the addition of the barn wood and the use of nails instead of glue to attach the cutout.

The project was really pretty easy, and any Christmas tray would work.  I hope you like it!
