Repurposed Earring & Ring Holder

July 10, 2014

I found this shelf at the thrift shop for $2 recently.

Not sure if it was homemade or what it was orginally used for.

First I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen.

I applied two coats.  Then distressed it with sandpaper and applied clear wax and then a little dark wax too.

An old grater fit pretty well on the piece, and I added a little applique with E6000.  The little aluminum bowl was also screwed on for rings and things.

My earring holder was inspired by the fabulous "re-purposer", Susan, at Homeroad.  Click HERE for Susan's tutorial.

This was my first re-purposed grater earring holder, and also my first project using an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that wasn't Pure White or Old White!

  2. Clever re-purpose. It was originally a book stand and sat on a desk or shelf
