Small Vintage Ironing Board Up-cycled Laundry Sign

This is how my "laundry" sign started out.

A small wooden ironing board with a scorched cloth cover.

Here is the ironing board from my instagram post.  I sanded the board to smooth it out some.

Then I painted it Heirloom White.  I sanded the board a little with fine sand paper before I added the letters.

I made a "laundry" printout on my computer from Picmonkey in Unkempt font at 728 font size, and cut it out to fit my board.

I traced the letters' outline in pencil on the back of my printout.

I traced the letters in pencil onto my painted board, leaving a faint pencil outline of each letter.  I then filled them in with a medium point black paint pen Sharpie. I carefully sanded a bit more.

I added Annie Sloane dark wax and a layer of clear wax, and hung the sign over a doorway in my laundry room.

A very inexpensive "laundry" sign!

  2. Carlene ... those little ironing boards are so useful for lots of things. I used to not even look at them until I found a nice old one. I love that you used it for a Laundry sign. So clever.
