Horticulture and Garden Junk

July 11, 2013
A local horticultural society has asked to tour my flower gardens on Sunday afternoon. I am hoping they are not expecting a conventional perennial border with all the Latin botanical names of the plants, because I am a junk gardener with a green thumb. Not a traditional gardener at all.

Not sure if they are the Junk Garden type...

  1. I think it is a great compliment to your garden. And, your garden is so fun,bi don't know how anyone could not love it. So no worries :-)

  2. I seriously would not worry because your garden is beautiful and full of whimsy. I think it is what you think that matters. The older I get the less I care about what others think. One of the best gardeners I know is not schooled or formally educated. Many in this community ask her about plants, insects, and lawn care. It all comes down to getting your hands in the dirt and gardening.

  4. Carlene,
You have nothing to worry about because your gardens are so beautiful, fun, and awesome! They're filled with the unexpected and interesting finds and packed with great ideas to try.
What an honor to be asked, and I'm sure you'll hear so many compliments by the end of the tour.

  12. I love garden junk and your junk is fabulous! To me a garden without garden junk is a garden without personality, and your gardens have oodles of both. We were part of a tour a few years ago and it was a blast. Enjoy it! I'm sure they will!

  19. I wouldn't worry! I don't believe there should be judgements among gardeners! I happen to love the Latin terms passed on to me from Mom, love gardening, visiting gardens, reading about gardens and especially looking for junk I can recycle in my garden! We MUST be kindred spirits,...at least I hope so.

You have so many wonderful ideas...I cordially invite you to visit Flea Market Gardening, if you haven't already...

I'm glad I discovered your blog!
