Outdoor This and That 15: Creeping Baby's Breath

June 27, 2013
One of my perennial favorites is white creeping baby's breath, a member of the gypsophila family.  It is in full bloom right now in my front border and along the front of the house.

I love the dense mat of foliage with a profusion of airy, white, blossoms in my garden.

I have it planted next to a cheddar pink dianthus, also in full bloom.

Here the creeping baby's breath in my front border is growing under and around an old weathered chair.

The chair is planted with a trailing petunia, and I have some purple verbena growing to the right of the baby's breath.

Do you have any creeping baby's breath in your gardens?

  6. I love it Carlene! I don't have any in my garden, but think I had better add it this Fall. We have been put on watering restrictions and my gardens are suffering a little. Yours look gorgeous! I know that reader is going away, but I'm hoping that GFC isn't. There was a panic scare like this a while back and everyone added linky and it did not go away. I really need to get on the ball and make a fb page, add bloglovin, & Pinterest buttons to my blog. Never seem to find the time to research and do it.
    hugs,
    Jann

  7. The closest plant I have is white phlox. The flower bed with the chair is darling. I loved seeing the dianthus too. It is not a plant one sees a lot, so when it pops up it's always a nice surprise. So glad to find your lovely post at Be Inspired Friday!

  11. I have never even heard of it, but I want some now! Can you mow over it if it creeps into your yard? It makes a stunning background for those pops of color that the other flowers bring!

  13. Hi Carlene. I love the setup with the old chair and angel. So quaint and pretty. My mom used to have beautiful flowers in her garden and always planted gypsophila, long stemmed variety, and would always include it in bouquets all over the house. It brings back good memories..Happy Weekend..Judy
