A 70 Year Old Toy Easel Chalkboard

April 14, 2013
Even if I haven't been able to enjoy the outdoors yet due to the all the snow here in Minnesota, I sure have had fun thrifting and shopping lately.  I found the old sink potting bench last week, and the old toaster and manual wringer last weekend.

This week my Mom was bringing this into a consignment shop to sell, but I stopped her.  She was going to sell it for $25.

I took it home with me.  It is a Kogol children's reversible easel chalkboard.  My Mom bought some things to re-sell from a local lady who was downsizing.  The lady told her it was 70 years old.

It's in pretty good shape.

It even had a chalk drawing on the reverse side.

I was kinda thinking about keeping it.  I do have old toys in our family room/den.

What do you think?  Is it a cool find?  I think I would have to hang it on the wall so it didn't take up so much space.

Thanks for reading my blog, Carlene

  1. I think I would keep it. Future kids will not know what a chalk board is.

  6. I love the idea of hanging it up, I'd try a kitchen wall and use it as a message center; put it back to work for a new generation!

  7. I think it's a very cool find! Love it with your toys, too. I bought two blackboards this weekend but nothing like yours! They were more modern and the board was green instead of black. I rarely see one like yours!

  14. I would keep it, of course, being a former schoolteacher. But what I want to know is: what kind of doll is that? I love her! I had a similar doll when I was small.

I would keep it for sure.
We still have snow. This has been the most awful of springs.
Or should I say what spring?
But I did see a robin yesterday hopping along the snow.
    Hope!
